I think what really gets me about that one meme “every jrpg is an antireligious story that ends with you killing god” is that even the uncharitable read of it is too generous. it’s true that it’s a sweeping assumption about the genre inherited from only caring about final fantasy, but it’s also not accurate to final fantasy as a whole

classic tropes of japanese roleplaying games such as [something that final fantasy 7 was doing as a lovecraft reference] or [cryogenically preserved homophobic joke that is also somehow mostly about final fantasy 7], but let’s not forget [something that final fantasy tactics, specifically, did] and of course, the undercurrent of [vibes based philosophy derived from a counterfeit final fantasy tactics screenshot]

Hmm…. It’s funny how you can get used to stuff. I can’t remember the last time I thought of wearing a bra or panties as something unusual. But I do remember being very nervous about it back in the day…. That’s like five or six years ago now…. Kind of nostalgic, really.
